hi

I am Amelie, 24 years old, and I completed my Bachelor of Science in Architecture and Urban Planning in April 2024 at TU Dortmund.

But let's start from the beginning: Ever since I was a child, two hobbies—drawing and photography—have been part of my life alongside sports. My camera is my constant companion, both in everyday life and when traveling. Through photography, I discovered my fascination for architecture.

Whether old or modern, subtle or extravagant—buildings always make for stunning photo subjects. The viewer's perspective is often crucial in shaping first impressions of a structure. As a photographer, I can control the angle, capture specific atmospheres, and preserve them. This led me to develop a deep appreciation for details and to recognize the many expressive possibilities architecture offers.

Drawing is another way for me to capture moments and objects. Whether through quick sketches on site or detailed reproductions of photographs, it encourages a deeper engagement with what I observe.

I take great joy in discovering aesthetically harmonious compositions that evoke emotions in people. That is why I particularly enjoyed the creative courses during my studies. In the early semesters of my bachelor’s program, many design projects were drawn entirely by hand.

hi, this is me.

Choosing the appropriate pen thickness and hardness made us think critically about the relevance of individual building components. We learned to intersect geometric forms manually, create execution plans, and depict shadows—skills that later proved extremely valuable when working with digital CAD programs.

Alongside my studies in Dortmund, I continuously participated in drawing courses and competitions to further develop my skills. It motivates me greatly that my future profession aligns so closely with my personal interests.

After completing my bachelor’s degree, I was accepted twice into the Master’s program in Architecture at TU Delft. Unfortunately, I was unable to begin my studies there due to financial constraints, as I could not secure affordable housing. Rather than seeing this as a setback, I used the time deliberately: I worked full-time for a year, gained professional experience, and prepared myself both financially and academically for my master’s studies.

I am currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Architecture in Vienna, studying at both TU Wien and the HCW. Alongside my studies, I continue to work professionally and have recently co-founded an association, allowing me to further develop my organizational, collaborative, and leadership skills in addition to my architectural education.
